I love coffee. So much so, that if you asked me to pick between beer or coffee, I’d pick coffee. But that’s like asking who your favorite child is. Why choose when I can combine them to make a delightful treat.
By chance, my Fiancé and I had found a company “Roast Inc” at the Franklin Farmers market. We met with one of the owners Brad, and found that they custom roast their own coffee locally. I expressed interest in having them custom roast beans for one of our beers.
After talking with Brad, they hosted us in a tasting with our base beer to find out what the right amount of roast, and what beans they would use.
We brought a growler of the base stout to their little location in Nashville and were met by Brads wife Lesa. Come to find out that Lesa is the Master Roaster of the two. Lesa told us a story about how they met at a homebrew club meeting at boscos some years back. We immediately connected and sat there for 2 hours tasting various flavor complexities and combinations. Over those two hours we decided on using a custom blend of Peruvian and Ethiopian beans that Lesa was going to custom roast to our specification.
If you need coffee, Roast Inc happens to have some of the best around town.
